Elijah for Voices for Hospices 2005 |

Steventon Choral Society again supported Voices for Hospices with a sing-in of Mendelssohn's Elijah in St Matthew's Church, Harwell, on Saturday 8th October 2005. A choir of 56 singers was joined for the evening by guest soloists, John Buckley (tenor) and Leslie Macleod-Miller (bass). Helen Pearce (soprano), Rebecca Joisce (mezzo-soprano) and Wendy Moore (contralto) from the choir were the other soloists. The quartets and trios were sung by various members of the choir. The performance was conducted by Terry Pearce and accompanied by Debbie Jordan (continuo) and Robert Thomas (organ). Full concert report Like the Voices for Hospices events in 2003 and 2000, the proceeds from the performance went to the local hospice, Sir Michael Sobell House, Oxford. The total of £1376 was considerably higher than the sums raised at the two previous events. |
